Interpretation via Zoom

To ensure you have interpretation set up from your Zoom account follow the next steps if you are the meeting host (only the host can do this):

 

Log on to your SUHSD Zoom account:

  1. https://sweetwaterschools-org.zoom.us by clicking on the link or typing it in the address bar, you can accomplish the same thing from the zoom.us page. It just requires more steps.
  2. From Zoom.us click on “sign in”.  When you get the sign in boxes click on “SSO” (under the blue sign in button). This will prompt for your company domain which is: sweetwaterschools-org
  3. From there you can log in with your sweetwater email and password.

 

Before you start the meeting

1)       In your Zoom meeting settings (in the browser, not the desktop app) enable interpretation, and add the Interpreter’s email firstname.lastname@sweetwaterschools.org , select Save. [You will not be able to add interpretation once the meeting has started, if it wasn’t done in settings].

 

After meeting has started

2)       Start meeting

3)       Click on the world icon located at the bottom menu bar and select “start interpretation.”

4)       The interpreter needs to sign in to Zoom with their SUHSD account before connecting as interpreter.

5)       Upon signing in if interpretation has been initiated by the host, the interpreter will see a pop message informing them they have been assigned as interpreters

6)       If interpretation is working, the interpreter should not be able to interact with you. To hear the interpreter, you must click on the world Icon and click Spanish (or English).

7)       If you can hear the interpreter in the main lobby, it means interpretation is not working for various reasons. You can assign the interpreter again inside the meeting

 

Parents

8)       Parents entering interpretation need to click the world icon and select a language to hear interpretation

9)       It’s recommended that parents “mute” the original audio when selecting interpretation so they don’t hear the competing sound of the presenter and interpreter.

10)   Interpreters cannot hear parent questions in Zoom

 

Once you have started interpretation the interpreter will not be able to interact in the main lobby nor give any instructions to your audience, since the interpreter will be placed in the Interpretation room.
